Nathaniel Stone Obituary

Nathaniel Stone was born on January 14, 1956 to Sallie Mae Lillard and the Late James Stone who proceeded him in death. Nathaniel was the 12th of 17 siblings. Whereas 4 brothers proceeded him in death (Denois, Herbert, Otis and James).

Nathaniel accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was Baptized at St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church by the late T. H. Scissom in Postelle, Arkansas.

Nathaniel attended Postelle Elementary School in Postelle, Arkansas and Marvell High School in Marvell, Arkansas. He was a favorite to his classmates. He was blessed with a gift for singing, he would enter the Talent Shows that was held every year...Singing songs by his favorite artist like “Drowning in The Sea of Love” and “Can I Change My Mind”.

In the late 70’s Nathaniel migrated to Champaign, Illinois with his cousin Leon where they started a career as a Painter.

Later years Nathaniel relocated back home with his mother at which he was a laborer in the community and he didn’t mind getting his hands dirty and willing to help anyone in need.

Nathaniel lived his life to the fullest. He loved playing his music, dancing, family get-togethers and traveling to Chicago every year with his mother and sister for holidays and the Arkansas Picnic.

After battling Lung Cancer, Nathaniel departed his life on Saturday, June 01, 2019 with his family by his side.

Precious memories are held by his loving mother, Mrs. Sallie Mae Lillard of Postelle, AR; Sisters-Beverly Rose Tolbert of East St. Louis, IL; Jearlene (George) Parrott of Matteson, IL; Rachel (Harmon) Moody of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; Luella Lillard of Postelle, AR and Delores (Byron) Jones of Dolton, IL. -Brothers-Luther Lockwood of Postelle, AR; Genois (Thelma) Lockwood of Chicago, IL; Reverend Celee (Doris) Phillips of Knoxville, TN; Ervin Phillips of Chicago, IL; Sherbert Phillips of Knoxville, TN; Virgil (Annette) Phillips of Richmond, VA and Clarence (Zina) Phillips of Lansing, IL. One uncle, Ceifus (Mabel) Phillips of Postelle, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others relatives and friends that Nathaniel loves very much
