Gloria Denise ("Glo") Johnson

Gloria, affectionally called “Glo” in her latter years, began her journey of life on August 28, 1964, in Marvell, Arkansas as the daughter of Magnolia Washpun Johnson and Hartsville Johnson, Sr.   This journey ended on Saturday, April 13, 2019 when she was granted her angel wings to make her transition to her eternal home.

Gloria accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and united with St. Matthew M.B. Church of Turner, AR. where she remained a faithful member until her health failed.  She was united in holy matrimony to the late Henry Brown, and one child was born to this union.   Her parents (Hartsville Johnson, Sr. and Magnolia Washpun Johnson) preceded her in death as well as her sister (Lois Johnson Smith).

Gloria loved the Lord and was a faithful and dedicated member of her church where she served joyfully as a choir member. She found much happiness in singing songs of praise and giving encouraging words to others.  After her health declined, her faith never wavered as she continued to sing and give praise to God. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and a true friend to many. Gloria was a very kind and gentle person and always had a beautiful smile that emulated from within.

Gloria, a graduate of Marvell High School, spent many years as a stay home mom before becoming employed with Cedar Lodge Nursing Home (CNA) in Marvell, AR, Boys, Girls, Adults, and Community Development Center (Building Trade Program), Marvell, AR and the Shoe Manufacturing Factory in Dewitt, AR.

She leaves to cherish her memories:  two (2) children: Chandelia Glorissa Brown (Marvell, AR);  Cortrellis Jermaine Johnson (Minneapolis, MN); four (4) sisters: Elsie (James) Thomas of St. Louis, MO; Carrie M. Johnson of Marvell, AR; Dr. Fannie (James) Albert of Dallas, TX; Opherdelia (Tony) Paige of Minneapolis, MN; four (4) brothers:  Hartsville Johnson, Jr. of Little Rock, AR; Rev. William Earl (Lita) Johnson of Marvell, AR; Thurman E. Johnson of Marvell, AR; and Rev. Dr. Larry (Holly) Johnson of Little Rock, AR; three grandchildren: Chartavion Henry, Charlie Henry, Jr. and Kaleah Austin; two aunts:  Emma Dabney of Chicago, IL and Leola Scaife of St. Louis, MO; two (2) uncles: Ocie Washpun of St. Louis, MO, and Carter Washpun, Jr. of Nashville, TN; a very special niece (Lachandra Johnson), and a host of other loving family members and friends.
