Augusta Marshall ("BB") Edmond

Augusta Marshall Edmond “BB” was born August 12, 1940 to Lonnie and Ardessa Marshall in Wabash, Arkansas.

Augusta’s Christian journey began at an early age at the St. Mary #2 Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. P. C. Clayburn, where she sang in the choir.  She later joined Morning Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W. B. Vasser and the final step of the journey ended at the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church where until her health failed her.

Augusta met the love of her life, Willie James Edmond and they were married on March 14, 1959 and to their union four children were born; Shelia, Johnny, Jamie and Loretta.

“BB” as she was affectionately called was a natural born nurturer; she loved cooking, sewing (she made dresses for Shelia and Jamie when they were young). “BB” loved her grandchildren and they loved her, so much so that you could always find one or more in her room laughing and enjoying the time they shared.  She loved to hear her children and grandchildren sing and she was one of their biggest cheerleaders. 

On February 14, 2019 an angel was dispatched to bring a weary soldier home to be at rest.  Her smile, humor and her favorite saying “Lord have mercy” will truly be missed and her legacy of love will be remembered forever.

She is preceded in death by; her parents; siblings, Cardia M. Collins, Idella Marshall, Lonnie Marshall, Jr., Ben L. Marshall, Andrew Young, a son-in-law, Reginald Robinson; brothers-in-law, Leon Williams, Cornelious Edmond and a sister-in-law, Irene Wesley.

She leave to cherish her loving memory; her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Willie James Edmond; children, Shelia Edmond Robinson of West Helena, AR, Johnny L. Edmond of Little Rock, AR, Jamie M. Edmond Moore (Richard) of West Helena, AR and Loretta R. Edmond of Helena, AR; siblings, Velma Swinney of Shreveport, LA, John Marshall (Gloria) of Lexa, AR, and Mary Williams of West Helena, AR; five grandchildren, Brittany L. Edmond and Laurinda Edmond of Columbus, Ohio, Martez K. Wilson (Janice) of Jonesboro, AR, Raymond Griffin of Atlanta, GA and Jameshia Edmond of West Helena, AR;  five great-grandchildren, six brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law, an aunt, Clenix Cheatum of West Helena, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
