Joshua Sims Sr. or Paw Paw was born to the late John L. Sims and Alean Porter-Franks on March 8, 1960 in Poplar Grove Arkansas. He attended Barton School District where he was very athletics.  Joshua moved to Minneapolis Minnesota in 1979 where he remained until his timely death.

Joshua was preceded in death by his parents John L Sims and Alean Porter- Franks, Grand Parents Elzenia and John Sims and Charlie and Mary Francis Porter, Great Grandparents Josie and Frank Turner, two Uncles Freddie Butler and Edgar Sims, four aunts Lula, Pauline, Joycee-Lee and Laura, one brother Stevie Wonder Sims Sr. a nephew Stevie Wonder Sims, Jr. one grandchild Sincere Jamar Strikland.

Joshua hobbies were reading every page of the paper front and back, planting his garden and taking walks. Traveling and driving spending time at home with children and grandchildren and down South to see about Moms and family. One of his favorite longtime dream was to move back down South and build a home. He meeted and greeted everyone with a smile, which was inherited from Moms as he would say and his quiet meditation time in the bathroom.  

On Sunday November 12th, 2017 around 9 a.m.  after spending time with family at home Jousha was granted his wings to join his moms and other love ones to soar and fly high in the heavenly skies.

 Joshua leaves to cherish his memories his step father James Franks of Marvell, Ar. His wife Alvercia Mae Sims of Minneapolis Minnesota, thirteen daughters Ashley(Trey) Jensen, Convona, Thaijuana, Shaniquia, Adrienne, Charamaine, Jasmaine, Joshelle(Lorenza) Miller, Shardae, Tiffiny, Tonya, Debra, Kenita all of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Six sons Tevin, Josha, Kelino, Joshua Sims Jr. Mario and John Jerry all of Minneapolis Minnesota. Twelve sister’s Patricia (Maurice) Gant of Minneapolis MN, Jackie (James) Moore of Douglasville Georgia, Shirley (Calvin) Moore of Bartlett TN, Shelia Lorrayne Jones of Conway Ar, Mary Sims of Jacksonville Ar, Sandra Chandler of Marvell Ar, Lavern, Tonya, Erma, Valerie, Karen, Lolitta. Thirteen Brothers Jeff (Sharon) Porter of Minneapolis MN, Richard(Rochelle) Franks of Lexa Ar, Curtis, Johnny, Tracy, Ricky, L.J., John, Ray, Hurby, Undre, James, Ceotis, Two brother-in laws Paul and James(Vera) White of Elaine Ar, Two uncles Gary (Sheryl) Porter of West Helena Ar, Duke Sims of Lexa. Six Aunts Josie Mae Sparks of Rochester New York, Shirley Gatson of Marvell Ar, Mildred Wright of Lexa Ar, Elzenia, Etta Jean, Alean Sims. He leaves 28 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild with a host of nephews and nieces and cousins and friends.

Joshua kind spirit and beautiful smile will be forever cherished and loved by many.  He assisted and was a father figure to many children he encountered by his children.
